The most obvious advantage of electric car batteries is that they don't produce the pollution associated with internal combustion engines. Electric vehicles are also exempted from the requirement of a Vehicle Emission Testing Certificate when obtaining an annual revenue licence.

The Nissan LEAF can be charged at home or any domestic power outlet — a full charge needs 23kWh. The government has pledged support for charging points around the country, and several private-sector initiatives have already obtained approval to set up charging stations.
The Nissan LEAF is 100% electric — that means no gas, none. Forget the cost of a gallon and say hello to freedom from the pump. The only time you'll visit a fuel station is to put air in your tyres.
